I just began using Vim about two weeks ago, and oh how I wish I broke
down and tried it 10 years ago.
Seems as though it fit right into my work style, as I don't feel as
though I had a learning curve at all.
Vim is an absolutely fantastic piece of software. Words can not describe
how ecstatic I am about the features it has, and I'm still just doing
basic stuff! (folds, marks, split-screen, commands-within-editor,
inserting data from other files/commands etc).
Today I went over the entire wiki, and read at least 60 of the tips. A
fair number of them I inserted into my config file.
I'm a network engineer at a small Canadian ISP, who heavily favours
FreeBSD. Over the years I've written some C and Perl code, and over the
last couple of years (particularly the last couple of months) been doing
extensive Perl development.
Anyway, I'm glad to be on the list, and I hope that over time I can give
back even just a fraction of what I already feel I'll take from the list.
Cheers!
Steve
ps. I'd like to thank the boys over on fbsd-q who provided much
off-topic help regarding Vim, particularly Frank, who openly stated that
he belonged to this list, and provided details about it.
