You can customize the color of current column with
something like this:

hi CursorColumn guifg=NONE guibg=#111111 gui=none term=none
cterm=none ctermfg=NONE ctermbg=grey
hi CursorLine guifg=NONE guibg=#111111 gui=none term=none
cterm=none ctermfg=NONE ctermbg=grey
