To be fair, ispell also flagged this word as misspelled albeit dict
returned entries for it from gcide and wordnet.

More specifically, spell check and dict are consulting different
dictionaries. I suspect spell intended to guard against careless mistakes
but dict tried to search all possible words. If you use that word more
often, you may add it to your personalized word list as suggested by sc.
