Yes. I quickly tested what I suggested, and it worked for me. I can even
successfully do something hideously tangled like this:

:map a :map s :echomsg "Hello!"<lt>CR><CR>:map d :unmap s<lt>CR><CR>

If you type 'a' then 's' and 'd' are mapped, and after having done so,
's' prints a message, and 'd' unmaps 's'.
