In .vimrc, condition it on the value of 'diff', which will be set to a
value that evaluates to true in whatever buffer vimdiff starts in:

if &diff
" colors[cheme] for diff mode
colors whatever
else
" colors for 'normal' mode
colors andtheother
endif
