Visual Basic Syntax...

I've tried gvim in windows and vim in Fedora to open Visual Basic files
from Visual Studio 2008. The syntax highlighting for .vb files does not
work. The message from vim is that the file format is unknown. The
extension is .vb and there is a vim.vb file in the syntax
folder/directory. I changed the file to the unix format but still no
syntax highlighting. How do I check where the problem could be or has
someone dealt with this already?
