I seem to recall your original post mentioned SSH in the equation,
otherwise I'd not likely have mentioned it.
It's possible that, at the time, you were also doing something else
network intensive such as watch videos or making VoIP calls. Or the
server into which you were SSH'ed might have been taxed (whether CPU
or network). That would have triggered slow redraws too.
Just in case you're curious and want to try and reproduce it.
