what happens if you use in vimrc:

hi CursorLine NONE gui=underline term=underline cterm=underline

note the NONE at the beginning, to remove all previous hi

--OR--
+vimrc
hi CursorLine NONE term=underline cterm=underline

+gvimrc
hi CursorLine NONE gui=underline
