Using substitute inside a map: v:val not recognized

Hello,

How would one use substitute inside a map?

The following fails with error: "E121: Undefined variable: v:val"

:let mylist=['c:\foo\hoo\boo', 'c:\foo2\boo2']
:echo mylist
:call map(mylist, substitute(v:val, 'o', 'p', 'g'))

Thanks,

--Suresh
