You need to either put it in your _gvimrc (which gets processed
after the GUI has started up) rather than your _vimrc (which gets
processed before the GUI has started up), or put it in an autocmd in
your _vimrc:

autocmd GUIEnter * set guifont=YourFontSettingHere

that will fire once the GUI has started.
