This has been brought up a few times but never actually worked.

In my mind for it to be worth doing, Bram would need to be willing to pull from it. Otherwise why bother? But he's not been willing to do that so far.

And, you'd need to get buy-in from each and every plugin maintainer or have some way of getting their updates into the repository and making sure they stayed in sync.
