It is strange, but in Google Groups web interface I see only one attachment. Both are available when I use mail app.

Unable to reproduce the crash. Guess will not able without all other files opened from a session and likely some environment I do not know about. But I see that you are using outdated vim (latest version is 7.4.131, while you are using 7.4 without patches). In those 131 patches there were some crash fixes.

About core: what does `ulimit -c` report? It should be "unlimited". Though I was thinking that "(core dumped)" in your message should mean core was actually dumped. Maybe there is a way to configure your system to dump cores into specific location, but I do not know it thus cannot give any advice.
