I thought it was referenced in this thread, but I might be
misremembering it from another thread:

:help sub-replace-special

The "\u" means "make the next letter uppercase" and the "&" means
"the matched text" (starting after the "\zs" which sets where the
match/replacement starts in the pattern; and ending with "\ze" if
that was used)
