how to join all lines in a paragraph?

Hi,

I have been trying to find in google how to join all lines in a given
paragraph, or a range to lines.
I only found this

:set tw=1000000
gggqJ

or similar recipes.
But that joins all lines in the file.I would be interested only in a
portion of the file. How should I modify that recipe for that?
