Use the Cygwin version.

I just tried the "Siddhanta" font:

It displays in the cygwin-X server that I use to display windows
from 'linux' and from Windows.

The NATIVE GVIM port sucketh greatly in it's unicode support.
It isn't just a matter of a mono space font -- if it was, it likely
wouldn't work on linux-X and cygwin-X.

In a 'SecureCRT' (a non-free tty product I use for ssh and local
win-console usage) window:

lindaw> echo "अआइईउऐऒओऔतणढडठ"
अआइईउऐऒओऔतणढडठ
lindaw> uname -a
CYGWIN_NT-6.1 Athenae 1.7.33-2(0.280/5/3) 2014-11-13 15:47 x86_64 Cygwin

the same text in a cmd.exe window displays what the windows
version of Gvim does. Both are pretty broken for unicode suport.

Note, in the X versions, you aren't limited to 1 font, as the font
system allows you to pick ranges. In windows, you are more limited,
but at least it costs more (cygwin & linux are free).
