(I imagine you are using a font that can't display the characters, and you get a beep when the character fails to display, or maybe some of the junk that results gets you a beep.)
Clearly, that first character is meant to be some kind of T. I think you've got an encoding problem. You might inspect the headers of the web page you copied the text from to find what encoding it uses.
