The last line, if run successfully, should show this:
...
checking whether we need -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=1... yes
checking linker --as-needed support... yes
configure: updating cache auto/config.cache
configure: creating auto/config.status
config.status: creating auto/config.mk
config.status: creating auto/config.h
You might want to check the log file, something is wrong here.
Perhaps you are missing some packages? Did you try running
apt-get build-dep vim-nox
