As the sign text takes two columns, the minimum supported value for
'numberwidth' is 3 with 'signcolumn' set to 'number'.

When 'signcolumn' is set to 'number', I think we should change the value
of 'numberwidth' to a minimum of 3 (if it is less than 3)?
