Show Invisibles

Hi,

I'm using Gvim on Windows 8 and I've configured vim to show invisible characters using (ctrl-vu) unicode characters:

set listchars=tab:U+25B8 ,eol:U+00AC

Unfortunately, when I re-open vim I get an error stating the listchars are not valid. I've included "set encoding=utf-8" in vimrc and executed :set fileencoding=utf-8 & :set bomb in vim with the vimrc file open but none have worked. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

-Ari
