In any case some colorscheme change depending on your background variable, so you usually need to set it before loading the colorscheme (e.g. solarized)
yes, but xoria sets it to "dark", so why i read it as "light"?

If the .vim file is not corrupted, you should probably look down your runtimepath (set runtimepath?) for anything that might change it.
