Groovy syntax file

In the groovy.vim, which for me is
/usr/share/vim/vim74/syntax/groovy.vim
there is a section:

if !exists("groovy_allow_cpp_keywords")
syn keyword groovyError auto delete extern friend inline redeclared
syn keyword groovyError register signed sizeof struct template typedef union
syn keyword groovyError unsigned operator
endif

Could someone kindly explain to me the reasoning for highlighting these keywords as errors?

Thanks!

Ed
