How can I join in a group that can communicate immediately like msn?

Hi, I am a Chinese we use QQ in CN, but I find that the tech or the skill is better in foreign forum or somewhat.

I hope that I can communicate with foreigner friend immediately, so I want to join a tech group like Vim.

I find there are too many tools msn, facebook and so on,
So what should I do? Which one is fit for my require. Tnx a lot.
