configuring folding

Geany has been my editor of choice for the past six years, but I figure now
it's time to bite the bullet and advance to Vim. The thing is, all of my
files are now formatted to function in Geany, and I'd rather not have to
reformat them all.

Geany allows the first indent to be folded, whereas it seems that Vim by
default only folds the second indent and deeper. Is there a way to set it to
fold from the first indent?

Also, when Vim folds, it displays an additional line in the middle
describing what is inside the fold. Would it be possible to remove these
middle lines and just indicate that there is a fold by the line above the
fold, as in Geany?
