This is not limited to gvim: I've seen it with the text-style tabline in
both GUI and console mode.
I don't know how to disable it, except maybe by making sure that your
tab labels always fill the full width of the Vim screen. ;-/
In the meantime, to give focus to Vim with no or minimal side-effects,
make sure to click one of the following:
- the system titlebar (at top)
- the Vim command-line (at bottom) (clears the hit-enter prompt if any)
- the Vim icon (in the system taskbar)
