I've now successfully installed VAM both ways. When I just copied and pasted the commands instead of executing them one by one the installation went through flawlessly. However, after getting git, which was gonna happen sometime anyway, I install it according to the instructions in the VAM documentation. Haven't tested it, yet, though.
