As far as I know vim, I'm pretty sure that the unexpected line
in the middle of the result of the substitution is related to
something else. before investing it, can you test a very minimal
alternative vimrc file like this:
vim9script
var ArgIndentRhs = () => submatch(1) .. "\r"
.. submatch(2)
.. repeat(' ', len(submatch(3)))
.. submatch(4)
command -nargs=0 ArgIndent {
var s = @/

set ai ci noet
to do so:
* save this content in, say, ~/stevendebugrc
* open vim with -u ~/stevendebugrc
