Sub-menu lists?

I am sure that this question has been asked other times, bu I could not find answer. I am writing a menu for an application and I would like to obtain a sub-menu-list, something like in the main menu: "Edit --> Colour scheme"or "Tools -> Spelling".

Where can I find the documentation?
