If you mostly like vcscommand.vim, but you don't like the command names it uses, it is easy enough to define your own alias:

:command! MyBlame WhateverVCSCallsTheirBlameCommand

Possibly you need to mess with arguments, -bar, -bang, etc. but you should mostly be able to get those from the command definition the plugin uses. If you don't want to mess with that it is even easier to make an abbreviation so it's faster to type:

:cabbrev blame WhateverVCSCallsTheirBlameCommand

You can even get fancy with cabbrev to only trigger in certain circumstances:
