Using Latex commands in Greek text (partly OT)

I occasionally need to write a Greek text in Latex.
This works with enc=greek and keymap=greek. But I cannot put in any
latex codes, such as /pagebreak, because they appear in Greek script and
Latex doesn't recognize them.

I tried reloading the file without settig enc or keymap and then adding
the latex code in English, but it still gets converted to Greek when I
run Latex on the result. Obviously I have selectlanguage{greek} in the
preamble.

I realize that this as much a Latex as a Vim question, but does anyone
on this knowledgeable list know of a solution?
