diffput does not trigger TextChanged event

I am using vim7.4 and trying to develop a diff related script. I found that diffget triggers a TextChanged event, but diffput does not. I set an autocommand something like this:

au! TextChanged * echo 'got it on ' . bufnr('%')

Is that a defect or a regular behavior?
