Just as a fyi, the below lines in my vimrc were causing the issue:

call tcomment#DefineType('idris', '-- %s' )
call tcomment#DefineType('idris_block', "{-%s-}\n " )
call tcomment#DefineType('idris_inline', '{- %s -}' )
