I was editing a largish perl program in 7.4 that I hadn't worked on,
probably
since 7.3 was on my machine.
I noticed it was very sluggish in scrolling and even echoing key functions.
I tried turning syntax=off, and noticed no slowdown at all.
I then tried reinstalling the old 7.3 -- and notice that while not as fast
as "nosyntax", the new syntax parsing is noticeably more slow than
it was in 7.3.
I think my vim 7.4 was @ patch level 53 or so, (whatever my
distro included)... Has this been substantially improved, or should
I stick with 7.3 for a while? or what?
thanks...
