how to rearrange text file

Hi
I have a large text file which I want to rearrange.
How to do that
I want
- every senstence on a single line, where a sentence is a line that
ends on a . or ." This is sentence can be in the orignal text file go
over several lines
- Every space that's in a line must be counted, placed upfront the
line, and by the number + 1 needs to be done.

In other words:

I want to have this example text:

"Saturday … at nightfall," repeated Harold. His eyes
fastened upon with such intensity that
some of the watchers looked away.
"So?"
"My Lord, the intends is to move him from his current place of safety
on Saturday next, at nightfall."
"If he has been Confunded, naturally he is certain," said Charels. "The
trouble is the boat"

Into

6 "Saturday … at nightfall," repeated Harold.
