New file opened when clicking on a file in netrw column list (v138b)

Hello,
Windows with default _vimrc.
Consider a diectory containing 2 files file1, file2
gvim file1
:e .
i twice (to get column list)
Click on file2
Result: open a new file named "ile2"

Errors in netrw v138b addressed in my latest posts are possibly
linked.
