vim Startup Problem: autoreplace

Hi,

every time I start vim it replaces the end of the recent line with the letter "g" and end-of-line. This is very annoying. It does not happen if I edit the files as root.

My ~/.vimrc is empty.

Any idea what is wrong with my setup?
