I found 'col -b' useful for filtering the output of 'man' to pass into
Vim. The problematic items filtered by 'col -b' were color, underline,
and other such things, which I assumed were done in the same way in
your makefile. I have no further experience in such things, and have
never made intentional use of such formatting. Apparently my
assumption was invalid. My mistake.
