I can reproduce this with Synergy running. I'm using Ubuntu (9.10),
stock QuickSynergy (0.9-1) and stock gvim (vim-gnome 2:7.2.245-
ubuntu2) although I can also see this happening when I ssh to a
machine with gvim built from sources (7.2).

I've tried gvim -u NONE with mousefocus and the problem is still
occurring. However when I disable Synergy and enable it again,
everything works as expected unless I do some random mouse clicking
(or just changing window focus, not sure).

Here are the options:
helplang=en noloadplugins mouse=a
mousefocus readonly ttyfast
fileencoding=utf-8
fileencodings=ucs-bom,utf-8,default,latin1
termencoding=utf-8
