No. It is not the simplest variant.
By the way simplest variant is not collecting any stats at all. I rarely see VAM or Vundle used to activate plugins on certain event and not on vimrc sourcing, so you can just use data of the current session only. Does not mean though I *never* see this, activating at runtime is a used feature.
Note: it is supposed to ask user about auto-cleaning by default.
