Is "heirloom vi" a different version of vi? So you're saying it crashes
on OS X? (Vim certainly isn't crashing for me on OS X..)
If the same program with the same version is crashing in some versions...
figure out why? (I suspect it's NOT an OS program, but it's not impossible.)
