You just pointed out a reason: it solves *one* problem, namely it
integrates plugins with Vim, and it does that perfectly. It doesn't try
to *also* solve the (unrelated) problems of finding plugins, fetching
them over network, keeping them up to date, resolving dependencies,
compiling binaries, or anything else. It does one thing, and then it
gets out of your way. Some people prefer to do things their way, others
prefer one-button solutions.
