Re: Vim writing to disk with every single keypress...why?

plain Vim (no .vimrc, no plugin ,..):
vim -u NONE -U NONE -N

next thing to try: switch off swap:
:set noswap

If this doesn't help tracking down what vim is doing you should talk
about your operating system.
