Can I avoid window flash when running script?

I have scripts that open and close windows (on same tab) while they
operate. I would like for screen to appear absolutely stable while
script runs up to the time it ends, since at end the window structure
is identical to when it begins. But there is is a subtle but
noticeable white flash as a window is open or closed, something like
the visual bell. (Although the visual bell is turned off.) Is there
some way to avoid this flash?

Thanks for any help.
