search() in several buffers

Hi vimers.
I have used the search() function several times in my scripts to look
for a string in the current buffer.
But what I need now is to be able to search in another buffers, even
in hidden buffers.
I have some hidden buffers I open temporaly just to be able to search
strings in them.
What is the best way to do it?
