Yes there is a way: CTRL-X S in insert mode, but note that CTRL-S will
suspend terminal if you use vim (to unfreeze it use CTRL-Q). See
:help i_CTRL-X_S and :help CTRL-s. If you use gvim you can also use
i_CTRL-X_CTRL-S which is more convenient.
