How can I run the shell through my Gvim ?

Hi,

Can any one help me to configure command prompt and run it from VIM only. Current If I do *:sh*, shell is opened. But I am not able to work in other windows till the time the shell is opened. I am looking for something, so that I can work both my `.rb` file and the command prompt from vim itself without closing the *shell*, what I am now doing when opening it using *:sh*.

I am in ubuntu13.10
