markdown, the ``` marker.

Hello people,

I would be grateful for your help:
Whilst writing .md files and .markdown files in vim; I am having difficulty with the syntax colouring whilst writing, it compiles ok; it is working fine until I use the ``` marker after which it seems to not recognise the second marker to stop the colour, and the rest of the file remains yellow.
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I can set it right?
