Hi Bram, et al.

As a long time lurker on the list, and user of vim since somewhere in v5 and vi
since 1987, I first want to say thank you for vim, and especially for the
careful thought and way you pay attention to details like these. I agree that
updating the default settings is reasonable, and your choice of timing is well
reasoned.

As someone who edits lots of files with really long lines, I have to say that
this change will definitely violate the rule of least surprise for me, but that
I will be very happy about it after the first week. I would definitely want the
continuation marker to begin in column 1 as you propose.

If it helps any, I also source vimrc_example.vim as the starting point of my
.vimrc.
