No, I have to type ^ alone, one time and it does not appear on the text, then, when I type something like e it becomes ê. The same with other things.

I use a br_abnt2 keyboard, and the ^ is on the same key as ~, but I have to hold Shift to get to the ^. I'm not using anything like digraphs or other sort of techniques.
