Re: vim window clears the terminal history

More details/correction,

vi works fine. The below is the behaviour with vi:

--(/tmp/test) -- is my terminal/shell prompt:
man test
--(/tmp/test)
ls
--(/tmp/test)
vi test
--(/tmp/test)

whereas, when I do "vim test", I just get a blank screen and all the
above is lost/blanked out on the terminal.
