convert text to html

Hello,
to convert file.txt to file.html I use the command:

:source $VIMRUNTIME/snytax/2html.vim

it works fine but is it possible to edit a config file to the French
accented characters are taken into account ?

i.e. é -> é è -> &eagrave; etc ....
